Down Syndrome Neurons Grown From Stem Cells Show Signature Problems
Brain cells have been grown from skin cells of individuals with Down Syndrome. The University of Wisconsin-Madison says, Down syndrome is the most common genetic form of intellectual disability, results from an extra copy of one chromosome. Even though people with Down Syndrome experience intellectual difficulties and other challenges, scientists have had trouble figuring out why that extra chromosome causes such widespread effects.
